Joan Bodon ("Jean Boudou" in French), born in Aveyron in 1920, and died in Algeria in 1975, is an Occitan novelist who wrote all his work in his mother tongue of Rouergue (occitan). His works published in French are only translations.

Her mother is a storyteller of the Rouergue who introduces her to the imaginary universe of the traditional tales that he uses in his work. Her name was Balssa. This name, deformed and provided with a particle by a collateral member of her family, is that of a famous writer, Honoré de Balzac (see the genealogy of Honoré de Balzac).

This is, along with Max Rouquette, Bernard Manciet and Robert Lafont, one of the major authors of Occitan literature of the 20th century. Boudou is also one of the novelists best known and appreciated contemporary Occitan letters.
