For Marie Rouanet (Maria Roanet), born in Béziers, the Occitan language has always been an essential part of her life.
After her first novel written in Occitan (Dins de patetas rojas, republished by edicions Letras d'òc), she went on to publish a number of beautifully written stories in French: Apollonie reine au cœur du monde, Nous les filles, Luxueuse
austérité or La cuisine amoureuse courtoise et occitane...
She has also sung in Occitan: her song lyrics have been published by Letras d'òc (Lo vèspre es roge, aurem bèl temps).
