Jean Boudou - Fictions bibliques autour de Qôhélét et de Barthélemy - Dominique Roques Ferraris

(Biblical fictions around Qôhélét and Barthélemy)

A study of the work of Occitan writer Jean Boudou, including a tale, Lo pont del sure, and an apocryphal account, L'Evangèli de Bortomieu.

The writer Jean Boudou (1920-1975) is one of the major figures of twentieth-century Occitan literature. This book is a contribution to the interdisciplinary research being carried out on his literary work, and features two previously unpublished studies, one on a tale, Lo Pont del siure [The Cork Bridge], the other on an apocryphal account, L'Evangèli de Bortomieu [The Gospel of Bartholomew].
These studies show how the fiction organized by the writer around two biblical figures, Qôhélét and Barthélemy respectively, is part of a self-centered writing strategy.
They illustrate how the writer turns his personal quest into a resource of literary originality and modernity in his conception of self-narrative, opening up the biblical field to a possible autofiction.

Collection Critiques Littéraires, L’Harmattan.

The author:

Dominique Roques Ferraris began her research in Occitan literature on Jean Boudou at the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis in 2008. She obtained her doctorate in Occitan studies in 2017, and has since made a name for herself as a specialist on the author, deciphering a body of work made up of autobiographical avatars that subvert literary codes and genres.
