After completing a series of eleven detective novels, Joan Ganhaire turns a new page in his work with his Occitan fiction novel “Lo patient espanhòu”. The story takes us from the first part of the 19th century in Bordeaux, at the end of the life of Francisco Goya, the great Spanish painter, to the present day. We follow in the footsteps of his last doctor to discover, according to the author, the explanation for a strange fact: why, when Goya's body was sent back to Spain at the end of the 19th century, was it found to be headless?

As a lover of Goya and a doctor, the author took pleasure in writing a possible scenario. Between imagination and reality, he takes us on a two-century journey through the work, life and death of the great painter, and the curse that seems to be attached to his darkest work.

Joan Ganhaire, nascut en 1941, es un escrivan perigòrd qu’escriu sas òbras en lemosin. Après aver seguit sos estudis segondaris a Periguers, estudiet la medecina a Bordeu per s’installar coma metge en Perigòrd ente naisset sa vocacion d’escrivan occitan.
