Alvernha - Flor Enversa (CD)

Trobadors in Auvergne from the 12th and 13th centuries

Flor Enversa transports you to discover the troubadours in Auvergne, in the 12th and 13th centuries. In an area covering the current departments of Cantal, Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme, former Auvergne and Velay, here is an anthology among the songs of this region that have reached us in manuscripts: Peire d'Alvernha, Peirol, Peire Cardenal, Ponç de Capduelh, Monge de Montaudon, Perdigon, and the trobairitz (woman troubadour) Na Castelosa.

Flor Enversa realizes a work of archeo-instruments-making, reconstitution of the instruments in relation to the sources of that time, and brings to life these songs with the sounds which carried them.

CD with booklet of 32 pages with all texts and translations.

Note that the digital version (MP3 files to download) is also available here.

Self-produced by Flor Enversa.

The band:

Flor Enversa ("the inverse flower", according to a song of Raimbaut of Orange) proposes to recreate the festive and poetic atmosphere of troubadour encounters in the courtyards of the castles of southern France in the 12th and 13th centuries. These poet-musicians sang love, joy, sorrow or hope, in poems with chiseled language and sublime melodies. The fin'amor and the values of cortesia inspired them, and sometimes the domna (Lady) herself becomes trobairitz (troubadour-woman) and composes herself.

Flor Enversa is Domitille Vigneron, Thierry Cornillon and Olivier Feraud, passionate about troubadour lyrics. Singers, instrumentalists and researchers, they revive with a concern for authenticity and sincerity these cansos, real jewels of our culture.

Thierry Cornillon: singing, flute
Olivier Féraud: bow viule, lute novel, kaval
Domitille Vigneron: Vieces with bow
