Mon ombra e ieu - Laurent Cavalié (CD)
Nine years after "Soli solet", this solo album by Laurent Cavalié is undoubtedly his most personal work. This opus wanders on new paths of poetry, between gnawa inspiration and Languedoc alchemy. With some old drums, vegetal percussions, a donkey jaw and his accordion, Laurent Cavalié comes to vibrate this chord that connects us to popular mythology in its most noble !
In Impressionist notes, Laurent Cavalié depicts personal feelings or places that are dear to him (the Canal de la Robine in Narbonne, the Mediterranean) while evoking characters from Languedoc mythology. With a look that mingles tenderness, irony and revolt on the world as it goes ...
If the great Languedoc poets are still present in this album (Léon Cordes, Joan Bodon, Auguste Fourès), Laurent Cavalié sketches his own poetic work without ever losing sight of the popular dimension of his art.
The accordion plays a prominent role, alongside an old percussion (bomb of Lauragais) and a new string instrument, invented by Laurent Cavalié and luthier Camille Paichelair.
Falsely rustic and cleverly mixed, his songs mischievously cross the world 's popular music (we sometimes think of the Zydeco - Louisiana blues), reminding us that language is rhythm as much as poetry.
Favorite of the Academy Charles Cros.
