Contes merveilleux de Provence (Tales and Popular Songs of Provence - Volume 3) - Jean-Luc Domenge
A reference book where Jean de l'Ours and the animàu a sèt tèsto (the animal with seven heads) meet, and where we find le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood), Blanche Neige (Snow White) and le Petit Poucet (Little Thumb), in versions that Will surprise more than one reader.
Often cruel, Provençal tales were not intended for children, but for adults. The tales and testimonies collected and annotated by Jean-Luc Domenge show that it is still possible to find a trace of this popular culture which, in Provence, had hardly been studied.
In this edition you will find six new tales collected in the Alpine Provençal valleys.
Preface by Jean-Noël Pelen, researcher at C.N.R.S, one of the best specialists in folk tales and popular songs of oral tradition.
Patrick Meyer, founder of the association Cantar lou païs, is the initiator of this publishing project and the director of this collection
