Figuras dau poèta e dau poèma dins l'escritura occitana contemporanèa - Philippe Gardy
Occitans texts - Marcela Delpastre, Mas-Felipe Delavouët, Bernat Manciet, Renat Nelli.
The author:
Philippe Gardy was born in 1944 in Châlon-sur-Saône, in a family where Occitan and Catalan were regularly spoken. Philippe Gardy began writing in the French language in the mid-1960s in Nîmes, with Professor Robert Lafont.
As a teacher of French and Latin, he then turned to research at the CNRS, while continuing to teach at the Paul Valéry University in Montpellier. His research is mainly devoted to Occitan literature and the social uses of language, with a particular but not exclusive interest for writers (especially poets) from the Baroque and Mannerist period in Provence and Languedoc, and more recently, of the XXth century. As a researcher, Philippe Gardy was the founder, in 1977, of the sociolinguistic journal Lengas, of which he was the director.
He collaborated in several Occitan literary magazines (Viure, Amiras, Dire, La Revista occitana, until their disappearance, Oc, Reclams). He directed Jean-Paul Creissac and Jean-Claude Forêt, editions Jorn, and was the moderator of the Pròsa occitana collection by the editions Trabucaïre de Perpignan.
Author of collections of poetry (L'Ora de paciéncia, 1965, Lo Païsatge endemic, 1982), he also writes short stories: La Dicha de la figuiera (2002); Mitologicas (2004), A la Negada (2005).
