Novèlas causidas - Tiradas de Novelle per un anno - Luigi Pirandello, Miquèl Pedussaud

Best known for his plays (Six personnages en quête d'auteur), the great Italian author was also a short-story writer. His Novelle pour un anno (News for a Year) holds a central place in his work.
Short in form and simple in language, but written with great finesse, his short stories are incisive and often cruel to preconceived opinions, reductive prejudices, narrow-minded views and shortcuts. They tell the real story of the society of his time: a society facing great difficulties, but the writer often introduces a touch of humor. There is also an indirectly autobiographical element, as he was confronted with his wife's mental illness and the bankruptcy of the family business. Some of his portraits, steeped in humanity, touch on the universal.
Here is a selection of tales to give you an idea of this fascinating voice.

Original author: Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936). Occitan translation by Miquèl Pedussaud.

In Languedoc Occitan, with a short Occitan-French lexicon.

Editions E...rau edicions.

The author:

Luigi Pirandello (Agrigente 1867 – Rome 1936) was an Italian writer, poet, short-story writer, novelist and playwright. He is best known for his theater (Six Characters in Search of an Author), but also as a short story writer. His Novelle pour un anno holds a central place in his work. He took on the challenge of writing almost a tale for every day of the year. His work was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1934..

The translator:

Miquèl Pedussaud was born in 1947. His childhood and adolescence in the suburbs of Toulouse were cradled by his paternal grandmother's Occitan language. After working mainly for La Poste, he returned to Occitan on the eve of retirement. He took courses at IEO 31, then distance learning at the University of Montpellier (Master 2 in Langues Littératures et Civilisations Étrangères et Régionales, with a dissertation entitled "Édition critique de la correspondance Joan Boudou - Robèrt Lafont" submitted to CIRDOC).
He is taking Italian courses and in 2020 will publish Italo Calvino's "Marcovaldo" in Occitan.

Extract :
