Quò's pas per res - Pas pour rien - Adeline Yzac (Not for nothing). This collection of occitan poems expresses that impulse of the language of which she has the secret. And here is where the poem appears: mocking, sorrowful, vigorous, talkative, fastidious... yes, language and speech do not give in and fight back. Trying to nail their beak? Impossible! The author:
When Adeline Yzac says that she was born between the River and the Vézère, it is not just an image... She was born in 1954, between the Dordogne and the Vézère rivers, in a small village in the Périgord Noir. And as everyone knows that water gives you a taste for travel, Adeline discovered very early on the pleasure of being a caminaira de camins, a walker of paths. This is how she went to live in Montpellier before crossing the sea to Algeria; after a year, she returned to Périgord from where she went back to Provence, and Montpellier again; she now lives in Rouergue. This is probably why she can say that "words and stories are bohemian princes born in the jar of the winds". Adeline Yzac carries in her bag the taste of a mixed life, the taste of languages and of the Word, of words and of everything that kneads a path of humanity. This is why she is a storyteller and a writer and why she leads writing workshops for all audiences.
Extract:
La lenga ven coma vòl. E babilha. Raja. Per ma boca barbeca. Fai coma se i èri bric. Quò’s d’aquel biais qu’escasèron los poèmas.
La langue vient quand elle veut. Elle parle. S’écoule. Par ma bouche elle cause. Elle agit comme si je n’y étais pas. C’est de cette façon que sont échus les poèmes.
