Passages inédits (Sagesse, Ecclésiastique) de la Bible vaudoise (ms 258, Trinity College Library, Dublin) - Claudine Fréchet
Unpublished passages (Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus) from the Waldensian Bible in medieval Occitan.
The Waldensian Bible in medieval Occitan, manuscript 258 in the library of Trinity College Dublin, has remained unpublished until now. The present edition offers the transcription and literal French translation in vis à vis of chapters XI to XIX of the book of Wisdom and chapters XVII (XVI v. 4 according to the Vulgate) to XXIII of Ecclesiasticus. This publication completes our knowledge of the biblical texts translated into Occitan during the Middle Ages on the initiative of Pierre de Vaux (ca1140-ca1205), and of their language.
Published under the aegis of the Institut Pierre-Gardette of the Catholic University of Lyon, with the support of the Confluence: sciences et humanités research unit. The Institut Pierre-Gardette (IPG), a research center for the languages and cultures of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, specializes in the study of Franco-Provençal and Occitan languages and the geographical variation of French.
