The author:
Serge Javaloyès was born in 1951 in Oran, Algeria. At the end of 1961, he was sent by his parents to a host family in Bearn, to escape the civil war. There, he learns Bearnese and practices it daily. He is co-president with Joan Loís Blenet, of the Confederation of Secular Schools Calandreta, then director of the InÒc Aquitaine and secretary of the board of the C.E.S.E.R Aquitaine.
Around the age of 40, he wrote his first novel. He writes regularly in several magazines such as País Gascons, Òc, Reclams, in French newspapers such as La République des Pyrénées. He is also editor of the magazine Reclams.

(…) Que sabè, un còp de mei, qu’èra d’ara enlà recurrent, que s’ahonaré se ne comprenè pas la soa participacion a la soa des·hèita. Perqué avè acceptat lo bandiment dinc au cap ? Perqué s’èra carat ? Perqué s’avè estimat mei d’estar ua victima qu’un combatent qui’s rebèca davant l’ataca ?
A totas aqueras questions, que trobè pòc a pòc las responsas.
