Lo libre dels ausèls - Antonin PERBÒSC
cants, poèmas, contes
A ribambelle of songs, poems, tales in occitan language, where the bird is at the center of the universe.
You will find the oriole, the goldfinch, or lesser known birds like the torcol. Poems that sound like a breath of life, songs of joy. A poetry light and fresh from a time when poets sang their bond to nature. The two books of birds "like all the other pieces scattered in his work, are the stories of an initiation to writing that would not have been possible without listening to the world that only the mediation of the bird makes possible . "This collection sends us back to the patient search for this first link in which the cosmic world is merged with that of Occitan words, words which Perbosc, throughout his life, has endeavored to save from oblivion. "Philippe Gardy This edition is followed by a lexicon of the names of birds established by Pierre Thouy. The preface was written by Philippe Gardy. The biography and the bibliography are by Josiane Bru, ethnologist, who carried out a real background work on the work of Perbosc.

The author:
Antonin Perbosc (1861-1944), poet, ethnographer, educator, and revitalist of the Occitan language, is today often seen as an eminent precursor of the Occitan Renaissance. But his work remains unrecognized: much of it remains to this day totally unpublished and gives another image than that of the ancestor too often statufied.
