Games on words, invocations to nature, formulas, jumpers, lullabies, À ma main droite j’ai un rosier takes us on the paths of a living tradition, that of the childish folklore which, in Provence, is bilingual: Provençal / French languages. The child culture presented here is not anecdotal: it is the object of scientific colloquia, or of literary observations. It is also a way to take you by the hand on the paths of your own childhood.

To reveal this unknown aspect of Provence, Jean-Luc Domenge collected and cross-checked numerous testimonials, from the Rhone to the Italian Alps, passing by the maritime Provence, the Haute Provence and the Pays Niçois.

Authors:

Jean-Luc Domenge, teacher-researcher and smuggler, he is founder of the "Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires " (Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions) of Castellane, author of many articles and books on the songs and folk tales of Provence and a grammar of Provençal Var and an Encyclopedic dictionary of the Tinée language.


Marlene Nabeth-Hosan and Florian Mesureux, traditional musicians, listened to the tapes and transcribed the scores.


Alain Barthélemy-Vigouroux, Honorary Academy Inspector, Secretary of the Association for the Teaching of the Langue d'Oc, made the preface.


Michael Crosa, young illustrator, painter and graphic artist illustrated the book.
