The Author-illustrator Patrick Ollivier-Elliott has published many books devoted to the "careful" discovery of the heritage and landscapes of Provence and Dauphiné.

Patrick OLLIVIER-ELLIOTT was born in 1944, in Aix-les-Bains; his family roots are Savoyard, Poitevine, Piedmontese and Scottish.
In his early childhood, he lived in Hyères with his family, then his parents settled in Paris; of this southern childhood, he acquired a great attraction for Provence, an attraction which will be strengthened in adolescence by reading the books of Jean Giono. He returned to Provence as soon as his driving license was in his pocket, and a few years later devoted his first professional income to the purchase of a village house in the upper Vaucluse.
It is from this platform that he begins his in-depth discovery of the Provence of the mountains, and the writing of his works.

Although his training does not a priori direct him to writing or drawing - he is an engineer of the Ecole Centrale de Lyon and MBA of INSEAD - he published in 1981 a book of hikes-discoveries published by the " association Alpes de Lumière. Then in 1986 he embarked on a more complex genre, discovering heritage, and published in Aubanel a large work illustrated with several hundred drawings in the pen: Les Baronnies, mode d'emploi d'un fragment de paradis (how to use a fragment of paradise). This book, which nevertheless treats of a vast sparsely populated region and at the time almost unknown, is then a great success, and will be reissued without discontinuity since its release.

His other works will take up the same spirit, covering other small Provencal or Dauphiné regions: a systematic approach to heritage and landscapes village by village, a historical basis very worked but deliberately synthesized so that the reader has to assimilate only in order to better understand the site he visits, a careful observation of architecture and art (especially religious art in churches), a systematic search of forgotten and almost untraceable sites, the pen of great precision, and many notes of humor that made his writing compare to that of Jerome K. Jerome.

The beginning of his collaboration with the publisher Provençal ÉDISUD was marked by the publication in 1991 and 1993 of two works devoted to the Luberon (Luberon d'Apt and Luberon d'Aigues), which give it a reputation which now stands alone southern regions. Luberon d'Apt will receive the Grand Prix of the regional edition of Provence, and Luberon d'Aigues the Prix de l'Académie de Marseille. For the books of Patrick Ollivier-Elliott, the publisher ÉDISUD then creates the collection "Carnet d'un attentive traveler".

Patrick OLLIVIER-ELLIOTT is a member of the Académie Drômoise and the Académie de Vaucluse. He has published about fifteen books, numerous articles and literary co-productions.
