Dialògues occitans - Gilbert BORGÉS (Lemosin)
56 scenetas per se botar dins de situacions de comunicacion de la vita vitanta.
(Occitan dialogues - 56 sketches to put in situations of communication of every day in Occitania).
After publishing Daniel Chavaroche's Dialògues en parler sarladais, Novelum now presents 56 dialogues written in Limousin Occitan by Gilbert Bourgeois. Like their North-Languedocian counterparts, some of these are skilfully recorded on 2 CDs.
Although they don't really constitute a method for learning the Occitan language, these 56 dialogues in Limousin Occitan will certainly help the reader and listener to place themselves in real-life communication situations, here and now. A tool that will help you tame oral comprehension and, if you're a "false beginner", learn to read and write.
Gilbert Bourgeois's Dialogues limousins are in keeping with his desire to pass on the Occitan language.
First and foremost, he passed on the language through his work as an itinerant schoolteacher and bilingual class teacher, for which he took his guitar and his famous "besace" to more than one school in the northern Dordogne region. He also passed on his knowledge through his writing, to keep the language alive in today's world. In these dialogues, sometimes extracted from anecdotes from his own life, he offers us a host of delightful portraits, with a sharp, sparkling but above all benevolent eye, which clearly shows the interest and friendship he had for people.
Book with 2 audio CDs in occitan (full text recording).
Some of voices have been skilfully recorded by schoolchildren and the Dordogne Occitan language workshops.

This book is in Limousin Occitan. There is also the book "Dialògues occitans Lengadocian" (in occitan from Languedoc).
The author:
Gilbert Bourgeois (Borgés) was born in 1962 in Gout-Rossignol and died in 2018. He first heard Occitan spoken by his father. After studying sociology, he entered the École Normale de Périgueux. He began his career as a teacher in Piégut and has always remained in the North Dordogne district, where he became an itinerant teacher in 2011. He then returned to primary school in Brantôme while continuing to work as an itinerant teacher, and then returned to primary school completely, adding Ribérac to Brantôme until 2018.
He began writing in French, telling tales in serenades, before switching to Occitan for several short stories, followed by the moving short stories Raibes Negres and Dialògues, presented here.
How to use this book:
First, listen to the first dialogue once or twice, trying to understand as much as possible: who, where, when, what is it about? Do they agree or disagree? And finally, what are they getting at?
Only then can you open the book and check your understanding. Then try to repeat some expressions or lines. Listen again. When you think you've got it right, move on to the second dialogue, and so on. That's it... for the whole year!
