The Languedoc novel Jean l'an prés is the major work of Abbé Jean-Baptiste Castor Fabre (1727-1783); this author, little known to pure French speakers, is one of the greatest writers of the letters of oc. Jean-l'ont-pris contains many elements that speak of the daily life of the village or hamlet of Vaunage in the 18th century, this community being called Aubais or Solorgues.

The author:
Jean-Baptiste Fabre (1727 - 1783) was a clergyman and writer of the langue d'oc and author of the burlesque and philosophical tale Istòria de Joan-l'an-pres.
Abbé Fabre was born in Sommières (Gard). He was vicar of Aubais, parish priest of Vic-la-Gardiole, near Montpellier, of Castelnau-le-Lez, Crès, Saint-Michel de Montels, Cournonterral and prior of Celleneuve where he died in 1783.
