The author:

Florian Vernet was born in 1941 in Béziers into a family where Occitan, the Languedocien of Béziers and that of the upper Aude valley, were very much in evidence. This set him on the trail of new writing, always on the lookout for a way to reconcile the humor and ferocity of the times. And he never stopped. A certified Spanish teacher at the Lycée de Brignoles from 1969, he went on to teach Occitan-Provençal at the same establishment. After a great deal of research and adventure, which some call "the sacred path of teaching", Florian Vernet became Director of the Occitan Department at Paul Valéry University in September 1998. His work is a challenge to Occitan literature, which until then had been complacent in its austere approach to good writing. His language and style are innovative and challenging. His work is surprise and delight. Anticonformist. The Joan Bodon prize was an early reward for an outstanding short story writer.

My whole life, as a person and as a writer (50 years of writing between collections of short stories and novels!) has taken place between two worlds that are at once neighboring and different: opposed at times, conflicting, superimposed at other times, intermingled, funny or tragic, fraternal and complicit or fiercely antagonistic.
These writings are the reflection of an entire existence, distorted, caricatured or baroque, but yes, the reflection of reality as I most commonly perceive it, which explains most of the chaotic themes that have been and remain mine. Others would say: obsessions. The reflection, of course, but above all the deepest and most significant trace of the perception I have of the reality in which I live, and which has given its name to this latest collection: anamorphoses.
We all remember those fabulous paintings in which Salvador Dalí plays with optical illusions. For me, it's the same, except that it's not a game, it's the tragic way in which I perceive a double reality, forced as I am to convey it in a unique means of expression.

Tota ma vida, coma persona e coma escrivan (50 ans d’escriptura entre recuèlhs de novèlas e romans!) se serà debanada entre dos monds al còp vesins e diferents : opausats a vegadas, conflictuals, superpausats d’autras, mesclats, risolièrs o tragics, frairals e complicis o ferotjament antagonistas.
Aqueles escrits son lo rebat de tota una existéncia, deformat, caricatural o barròc mas a la vertat rebat de la realitat tala coma n’ai la percepcion mai correnta, çò qu’explica la màger part, caotica, de las tematicas que son estadas e que demòran las miás. D’autres diràn : las obsessions. Lo rebat cèrtas, mas subretot la traça mai prigonda e significativa de la percepcion qu’ai de la realitat ont vivi, e qu’a donat son nom a aqueste darrièr recuèlh : anamorfòsis.
Avèm totes dins los uèlhs de la memòria aqueles quadres fabuloses ont Salvador Dalí jòga amb las illusions d’optica, per ieu es parièr, levat que non es un jòc, es lo biais qu’ai de percèbre una realitat dobla, forçat que soi de la far passar dins un mejan d’expression qu’es unic.
