Pantai dins lou jardin dóu Lussembourg - Richard Aldington
(Rêverie dans le jardin du Luxembourg)
"A dream in the Luxembourg", poem of the Englishman Richard Aldington published in 1930, tells a loving journey, with its hesitations, its uncertainties, its questions, its remarks on the things of the life and its futile details, until To arrive at the moment of deciding and becoming lovers. This text, in which Aldington, a connoisseur of the literature of Oc and Mistral, often cites Provence, is published here in three versions: the original one in English; The French translation by Catherine Aldington, daughter of the author; The Provençal translation, signed by the Arlésian Marcel Audema.
It is difficult from the editorial point of view, but so satisfactory to the reader: Aldington's poem is wonderfully beautiful in all three languages, the translations of Catherine Aldington in French and of Marcel Audema in Provencal are both faithful and full of charm. The pleasure of reading the poem in Provençal - a will of the poet - fully justifies the launch of this new collection, Janus, devoted to texts translated from French to Provençal.
