Volutas - Cecila Chapduelh
In a machine-free, completely self-managed artistic world, the author publishes her second collection of Occitan poetry, or rather a “recueillet”: twelve poems hand-crafted, edited and reproduced in silkscreen, numbered from 1 to 120.
The work of Cecila Chapduelh (Cécile Chadeuil in French) is polymorphous, both artistic and artisanal, but always full of life, love and humor. Deeply rooted in the limestone of her native Périgord and at the same time universal, Cecila Chapduelh's poetry sings of a Woman at odds with propriety: she wants to live as she sees fit and, above all, to be
free.
Bilingual Occitan-French edition, 120 copies printed.
Silkscreen and hand-bound by the artist.
Numbered copies.
The author:
Cécile Chadeuil Cécile Chadeuil was born in 1980 into a family of wild peasants in the etymological sense of the word, between the Limousin and Périgord regions. She is “Périgord, half pig, half Limousin, half rascal”, while living off this exoticism on the outskirts of Toulouse. The daughter of a writer and granddaughter of a Limousin witch-doctor, Cécile Chadeuil initially rejected this culture before being caught up in it by poetry. She published her first collection in 2015, “A chara o crotz”, full of questions whose answers can only be found by flipping a coin.
Her second collection, “Volutas”, features twelve poems handcrafted, edited and reproduced in numbered silkscreen prints.
Between 2015 and 2020, she contributed to the anthologies “Paraulas de hemnas” (editions Reclams) and “Par tous les chemins, florilège des poésies en langue de France” (éditions Au bord de l'eau).
As not all writing is necessarily poetic, she contributes to the “Per la veirina entreduberta” column in Lo Diari magazine, where she brings out a book to look at it sensitively, from a topical point of view.
In 2023, she published the collection “Mina de plomb, mina de ren” with Editions Jorn. It comprises texts in two parts, a more or less rhythmic poetic section entitled “chançonetas de ren”. The second part presents personality traits in the form of prose portraits.
Extract:
Amor de trop
Un còp era una istòria d’amor
La mai trista de las istòrias d’amor
Mai trista qu’amor de luenh,
Dòu, passion esconduda e liasons
impossiblas
Trista de tant es corta
Qu’a pena començada
E crac e crac es desjà chabada
(Volutas, 3)
(Volutas, 2)
